Deion Sanders was right… about your business

Maybe it was a rocking chair, maybe it was a piece of electronics, or maybe it was refrigerator.

No matter how well it worked, or how hard you tried to sell it, it’s poor physical appearance negatively affected your ability to sell it. It also affected the price you could get for it.

Do you ever feel that way about your business? Have you ever apologized for the appearance of your business cards, your sign out by the road, or even your website? Then you know what it is like to have thoughts of, “How can I sell myself as ‘the best’ when I don’t even feel good about the way I look to potential clients?”

Several years ago, when I first heard this Deion Sander’s quote, I thought it was arrogant.

“If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”

Now, after two decades of owning my own business, I know that he was spot on.

Let’s break this quote down.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#ee5b22″ background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/3″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default”][vc_column_text]

“If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”

“If you look good, you feel good.”

How you feel about yourself, your brand, and how your business looks to the outside world will directly affect how you promote, market, and sell your product or service.

If you know you look good in print, online, or in person, it’s much easier for you to sell your product or service.

The reason is simple. You are no longer hindered by insecurities of your outside perception and clear to focus on your goals.

You’ll no longer spend time apologizing that your business card has the wrong phone number or logo on it or that your website has images missing or forms that don’t work. You’ll spend your time showing how you are the best at what you provide and confidently sell your product or service.

Because you look good, you feel good. And that gives you the freedom to “play good”.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1470612027201{margin-top: 50px !important;}”]

“If you feel good, you play good.”

It doesn’t matter what you do for a living. You could be a professional athlete, a manufacture, a service provider, an engineer, a doctor… doesn’t matter. Whether you know it or not, you are constantly selling yourself and what you do to someone.

And, feeling good = freedom. Once you look good and you feel good about how you look. It frees you up to do what you do. And you are good at what you do. Now you are free to set those meetings, make those phone calls, buy that advertising, and promote yourself without fear.

Why? Because it all started with looking good. Now that you look good, you feel good. And because you feel good. You can “play good”. You can feel confident about starting that Google AdWords campaign, about hiring and SEO and marketing specialist, about going to that trade show you always wanted to go to, about buying that TV or Radio advertisement. Because you know that your business looks good in print and online. The fears of what people will think once they find you, have faded away and now you can have the boldness to promote yourself like never before.

“Because you feel good, you play good. Because you play good…” they what? That’s right. The next step is the best part.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1470605706056{margin-top: 50px !important;}”]

“If you play good, they pay good.”

Once you look good (in print, online, in person) and you play good (you perform well by offering great goods or services), getting paid good is the next step. This is easily the shortest section of this article but it is also one of the most important.

It doesn’t matter if you are running a non-profit charity, offer a service, or sell products… Getting paid is what we are all after. It’s what pays the bills.

Charge a profitable but fair price for what you are selling. You already “look good” and “play good”, now, it’s time to get “paid good”.

Looking good and playing good is an ongoing process. And you have to understand this. Periodically, you will need to “keep up with the times”. Design standards change, manufacturing standards change, and service standards change as time goes on. Your first step is looking good today, playing good today, and getting paid good today. Then, you’ll have to stay on top of things to make sure you keep up with those in the future.

But, in the wise words of former 2 sport superstar, Deion Sanders,  “If you look good, you feel good. if you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”. And, it all starts with looking good. We can help you with that.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
